Cracking phenomenon under small bending radius: When bending ordinary cold-rolled steel plates, when R/t<0.5, external surface cracks are generated.
Reason: Cracks are caused by compressive or tensile stresses on the inner and outer surfaces of the bent section. For a certain bending radius, the thicker the plate, the longer the bending width, and the more likely cracks are to occur. The former is due to the increased distance from the central facade to the inner surface, while the latter is due to the limitation of the bending width on the external deformation.
